Perth resident stunt man extraordinaire Ray Baumann thrilled the Perth Motorplex crowd in an insane night of automotive mayhem.

However it could have ended differently when the second stunt of the night - the MONSTER CORKSCREW exceeded everbodies expectations - including the Rays Hell team - when the car not only cleared the Watsons Express Transport billboard, and the 25 metre wide car track (where a number of cars had been strategically placed for the landing)...BUT ALSO the 15 metre wide motorcycle track to land (crash would be a more apt word) onto the Speedway Infield.

The car (pictured above) looked more like a pancake after the sudden stop and the crowd held it's collective breath as the recovery crew worked on extricating Baumann from the wreckage.

Baumann emerged with a nasty gash on his hand that required stitching before continuing with the rest of the nights activities.

In the final stunt of the night Baumann launched a car off a ramp aimed at a bus standing on it's end 30 metres away - but as the car left the ramp it veered left grazing the bus leaving it standing erect.

In addition to the Rays Hell Stunts there was Car Football (judging by the crowd reponse - something we will be seeing more of in the future), a car drop from 35 metres and two Jet Dragster fire shows that ended with a toasty car burn.

The night ended with a huge fireworks show as a thank you to an appreciative crowd.

Following are just a small selection of images from the night.

...who said vans cannot fly!

Baumann looked pretty relaxed...but this shot was taken BEFORE the Monster Corkscrew...

It was snowing in Billings, Montana when Chuck Haynes left on Wednesday...so he decided to warm things up a little...

by having a little car BBQ...

...the crowd were pleased with the result...

Never, ever, ever go on a caravan holiday with Ray!
Car Football was a blast...although Team Kiwi were protesting that one of their trys was not counted...wrong game boys...the result:
AUST: 2 goals 3 points defeated NZ: 1 goal 2 points
(Note: The game was abandoned when a melee broke out with even the Umpires car getting in on the action destroying everything in sight!)

The grand finale was a big Fireworks display capping off an enjoyable evening. (But look at that bus standing there - taunting us...Ray the Bus must go...next time eh?).
