| The Pro Auto Performance Hi Tech Titles will see some of WA's quickest street
cars taking on the track at Perth Motorplex this Sunday. The event caters for four cylinder, six cylinder, late model V8 and rotary vehicles, and with the emphasis on 'high tech' many racers will be packing turbochargers and nitrous systems as they strive to get the quickest times at the Motorplex. In Perth for the first time is Queenslander Damien McKern's record setting Mazda RX-2 powered by a turbocharged 20B Mazda motor. McKern has run the quarter-mile track as quick as 8.2-seconds at more than 270kmh in the diminutive racer. Also fresh from the Gold Coast is Scotty Weildon who is bringing his Super Mod Mazda RX-3 along for the ride. Weildon has run 7.84-seconds at 277kmh and is hoping to better those marks on the super smooth Perth Motorplex surface. With two of the Gold Coast's hottest on the grounds it is sure to bring out the best of the local racers keen to show them how it is done including Murray McKifer in the one of the world's quickest Toyota Corollas. The passionate Mazda, Nissan, Subaru, Mitsubishi, Toyota and Honda owners will all be out there trying to ensure that their marque comes out on top, along with the Pro Autyo Performance OZ EFI class for late model V8 racers with vehicles such as the powerful Ford XR8s and the Holden EFI V8 Commodores. Racing begins at 11am. |
