Record-breaking Westernats
Saturday’s Summer Slam event saw patrons dig deep and support a fantastic cause given recent events.
Our very own Mrs. Galaxy Australia went above and beyond to help show support. Mrs. Dolan who juggled jobs on Saturday night with shaking tins for the WA Bushfire Volunteers and with a quick dress change heads out on the strip as reverse girl for Mark Chapman with Chapman Brothers Racing, Michelle went on a enormous appeal with the Drag Racing community assisting our 10 Door Slammers with tins and also undertaking a baking bee to also help raise funds.
“Seeing what is currently happening in our Country at the moment with the catastrophic fires, many of us wanted to help in some way especially when the Aeroflow Nitro Cars got caught up in it and couldn’t complete the trip over.”
“When I saw that the Perth Motorplex decided to donate $1 per ticket sale, that gave me an idea to get some tins together, and I can’t do a fundraiser without making some of my Bounty Bars for a donation (seem to be a Drag Racers Favourite).”
“Knowing full heartedly at times like these our Drag Racing community bands together, I contacted all of our Slammer teams and The Nitro guys asking if they would mind having a tin at the front of their pit bay.”
“The junior kids, and racers kids got involved as well, walking around the crowds shaking their tins and by the end of the night, we managed to raise a massive total of $1500.90 plus $434.70 from the Perth Motorplex tins making it $1935.60 to be donated on behalf of the Racers and patrons.”
“Thanks to everyone that was involved and that donated, or even attended the Perth Motorplex, the money raised is going to such a deserving cause.”
