AFTER being on the sidelines for two years Ben Ellement makes a welcome return to racing here at the Perth Motorplex this Saturday night.
And the 2007-08 AHG Sprintcar Series champion has not hidden the fact he is looking for wins.
The 38-year-old market gardener has already been doing a bit of testing and despite the lack of seat time in recent seasons, doesn’t believe he has lost any of his speed or ability.
“I think there are gains there, having an absence from the sport… stepping back and having a visual approach and watching and learning,” Ellement said.
The team has all new equipment and is looking to having an impact.
“Previously in racing I have sort of being racing for a championship and racing to a points system but I think we are going to take each individual night as it comes and hopefully try and race for wins and go from there.”
He is part of a great field of 27 drivers locked in for the first round of the Wormall Civil Sprintcar track championship.
Other key drivers include Jason Kendrick, Ryan Farrell, David Priolo, Shaun Bradford, Jamie and Brad Maiolo, Carl Dowling, Callum Williamson, Lee Nash, Daryl Clayden and Ken Sartori.
Also on track will be the Late Models, Pool Shop Group Speedcars, Alltools Formula 500s and Wingless Sprints.
We will then end the show with a bang – literally – with a massive fireworks display.
Go on, what are you waiting for?
Book your tickets online and we will see you trackside this Saturday night.
