Jason Kendrick has had his fair share of bad luck in the Hit92.9 Sprintcar this season. While race wins have come with regularity, costly DNFs have seen Brad Maiolo a far closer rival in the championship than Kendrick would like.
The second generation driver said breakages have been a pain.
“Most of our DNFs have been from mechanical failures, if you took them out it would be a different story,” Kendrick said.
“It’s not like we are crashing and tearing up every week. We’ve had a driveline break, a rear end (differential), we’ve dropped two valves in the motor, we had a guy drive into the side of us.”
When it comes to the Merger Contracting Gold Cup Grand Final this Saturday, Kendrick said the game plan for his team does not change.
“We don’t points race, we go down to win and if we don’t win we don’t go home happy. The only thing we concentrate on is beating ourselves, making sure we continually get better over the night and if we do that we should be at the pointy end.”
The Merger Contracting Gold Cup Grand Final takes place this Saturday from 6pm at Perth Motorplex and also includes the season’s biggest demo derby with almost 50 cars signed up already.
