formula 500s

Glenn Carstairs tonight bounced back from a rollover last weekend in the best possible way, winning his second feature race in as many starts at the Perth Motorplex this season.

Carstairs was class all night, coming second in both of the night’s heat races to start from pole position alongside Chris Dymock.

As the race went green in the Scardifields Smash Repairs King of Wings feature, Carstairs immediately jumped into the lead with new Dad Cody Turacchio making the most of his third starting positions to take over second place while Dymock would follow in third.

As the laps wound down, Carstairs would pull away from Turacchio, who in turn would open up a gap on third placed Dymock, who was doing all he could to hold off State Champion Matt Brown who was piling on the pressure in fourth place.

The only stoppage of the race came with nine laps completed, when Jamie Nardini, Cameron Mckenzie and Luke Nardini all came together in turn two with an attempt at reverse parallel parking together. All cars were able to continue.

The race would resume, but the order would not change, Carstairs going on to claim an impressive victory, his seventh feature win at the venue. Turacchio would celebrate with ‘Jett’ power propelling him into an exciting second place while Dymock would hold off Brown for third.

Earlier in the night Heat One didn’t start too well, with cars spinning and the yellows came on for a three car pileup in the opening lap. Heat two went without incident.

The Formula 500’s now have a month’s break from action, with the next show scheduled to be back at the Perth Motorplex on Boxing Day.
