ROBERT Watson junior used his experience to drive to a strong win in the TW Mechanical 360 Sprintcar final at Sunday night’s FAST Racing Series event.
Watson claimed the 15-lap final from Dean Terry, Luch Monte, reality tv star Ben Van Ryt, Ian Dhu, Wade Randall and rookie racer Mitchell Wormall.
Troy Beckingham, who has contested quite a few open sprintcar races this year, posted a DNF on lap five while Stephen Adley didn’t start the final.
Monte struck the first blow on the night, racing away to a good win in the first eight-lap heat from Van Ryt and Terry.
He also won the second heat from Watson junior and Van Ryt but in the final qualifier it was Watson from Monte and Van Ryt, setting the stage for an interest final.
Karl Magerl had a good night behind the wheel of the #36 Limited Sprintcar, winning the first race and then the 15-lap final from Anthony Dye and Ben Migro.
On the back of the WA Wingless title being held at Ellenbrook Speedway the day before a good field hit the track for the latest round of the Harris Engines Motorplex track championship.
The 15-lap final went to Brendon Wedge from Daniel Coleman, Matthew Iwanow, Justin Wragg and Matty Fellowes.
The winning margin was just 0.548 of a second.
The final of the Southside Engine Centre Street Stock final was Nic Marshall who claimed the 10-lapper from Brad Watson and Brendan Smith, while the Production Sedan final went to Laura Byrnes from John Triplett and Jim Gilmour.
Brett Janssen won the final AJ Cochrane and Sons Formula 500 bout from Rick Bell and Des Pope.
